On August 23, 2012, Eugene Hughes and Malcom Lee were inducted into J.W. North High School Wall Of Fame.  Coach Hughes  coached basketball at North for seventeen years. He was the school's first basketball coach and tennis coach.He  was introduced to the school assembly by two of his former players, Mike Bartee and Ray Johnson. During his tenure Coach Hughes established North as a strong hoop program before turning it over to Bartee.

Malcom Lee was a four starter at J.W. North where he was All CIF and a McDonalds All American. He later attended UCLA where he was an all conference selection, a stalwart defensive performer and a second round draft choice of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Lee was introduced to the school assembly by his high school coach Mike Bartee and his AAU coach Charles Mathews

Amber Munerlyn is the newest athletic sensation from the Inland Empire. Amber, a sophmore at Santiago High School is on her way to becoming a world class soccer player. This past summer Amber was a member of the Under 17 national team that played for the Nordic Cup in Denmark. She helped her team to the championship by scoring two goals in the tournament. Amber was called up to play on the aforementioned team from the Under 15 national team.

Amber had an outstanding freshman year at Santiago. Below are some of the awards she earned.

  • 1st Team All League
  • 1st Team All CIF
  • All area Offensive Player of the Year
  • Team MVP
  • Runner up to player of the year
She also ran track for the 1st time and earned:
  • All League Big VIII  200M Champion. 
  • Due to commitment to National team she was unable to advance to the CIF track meet.

 The Los Angeles Times(December 26, 2010) sportswriters for high school stated that she is one of the newcomers to watch in 2011.

Amber is the daughter of Cubbie and Marion Munerlyn. Many of us from the ''neighborhood '' remember Amber's mother as Necie Wells
